Cooking Tips

  • If you are using fresh green beans, blanch them first before sautéing with the mushrooms and onions. Blanching helps remove the bright color of the green beans and makes them more appealing to children.
  • Make a type of bean casserole from canned, frozen (thawed), or fresh green beans. Beans are best when blanched beforehand when you are using them fresh. Thus, they’ll be fully cooked in the oven with the sauce made out of creamy mushrooms.
  • Spice up this green bean casserole recipe by doubling the black pepper and following the recipe as directed.
  • To prepare for more people, double the quantity of green beans. Use a large baking dish measuring 13×9 inches. Use a full 6-ounce can of French ® French Fried Onions and make the amount of soup needed. 1 can of cream of mushroom soup contains 10.75 ounces. Prepare the dish as directed and it will take no more than 45 minutes to be ready to serve.

Can you make green bean casserole in advance?
